Under The Clouds: Chapter 1 Concluded
In the script, it reads,
MAX chugs the glass of juice in three big gulps and pushes the cup back to Jane.
“Bye, Mom. Gotta go.”
“Wait. One more thing.”
JANE stops MAX and proceeds to drown his cheeks and forehead in her overflowing love, and such pecks as trivial as they are to MAX, imbue him with nothing but his magnificent eye rolls.
In the graphic novel, it shows,
One of the big challenges that I found has been staying true to the message that was originally written in the script. It’s often quite difficult to convey an action with a still image. In comics and manga, it usually utilizes words to express sounds of actions such as swoosh, zoom, clank, etc. I personally would like to reframe from wring over drawings unless they are characters’ spoken words.
After the last drawing of chapter 1, I revisited some of the earlier drawings to polish. The one that I wanted to work on more was above since it only had one peck instead of a multitude.
I experimented with a few ideas then settled down with above. Three heads made it look messy, a multiple of duplicated lips made her look like a monster so I reduced it down to two heads providing an idea that she is going up and down pecking the boy. I may work on it a little more if a better idea pops up.
I have finally finished chapter 1 and I am aware that I missed a Tuesday update. When I was unable to finish what I had planned, in other words, I was about to make another rushed, disorganized, short post, I have decided to skip last Tuesday and make a post when it’s ready. The plan to make a weekly update has proven to be shortsighted. When I first started this blog with concepts arts, the majority of artworks was done beforehand, so I was able to leisurely progress with a abundance of material by inserting one or two new ones weekly. Now since all artworks will be built from ground up, I cannot work as fast as I want to. I’d like to set milestones and make a post once one is achieved. In that way, not only my progression is so much more organized but also able to provide a complete post. Instead of 4, 3 posts per month is what I am counting on from now on.
Above is the last drawing of chapter 1. As I am looking at the drawing just now, I have realized the left corner looks barren. I will have to come back to this drawing and add a few things.
Before starting chapter 2, I will need to go back to Blender for a new background renders. I am very looking forward to draw taller buildings with traffics on multiple layers of rails. I am planning to complete 2 drawings, half of drawings that will be needed for next scene, before next post.
That is all for this post. Thank you for reading and please take good care of yourself and see you next time.
